PENGARUH KONSUMSI MAKANAN LAUT TERHADAP KASUS HIPERTENSI DI DESA AIR BANGIS
THE EFFECT OF SEAFOOD CONSUMPTION ON HYPERTENSION CASES IN AIR BANGIS VILLAGE
Abstract
Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and global mortality, and is often referred to as the 'silent killer' due to its lack of symptoms. One of the risk factors is excessive sodium intake, which is abundant in seafood. This study aims to examine the impact of seafood consumption on hypertension cases in Air Bangis Village, Sungai Beremas District, Pasaman Barat Regency. The research design used is analytical with a cross-sectional method, involving 95 respondents selected through consecutive sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with Somers' d test. The results show a p-value of 0.947 (>0.05), indicating that there is no significant effect of seafood consumption on hypertension cases in Air Bangis Village, Sungai Beremas District, Pasaman Barat Regency. The correlation coefficient is 0.008, indicating a very weak correlation. Seafood consumption cannot be used as a definitive indicator of hypertension, as other factors such as gender, age, BMI, and lifestyle also play a role.
