SCREEN TIME, ATTENTION SPAN, AND WORKING MEMORY IN MAN IC GOWA STUDENTS 2025/2026
Abstract
Working memory dan attention span merupakan fondasi penting dalam proses pembelajaran, namun keduanya rentan terhadap dampak penggunaan teknologi digital yang berlebihan. Peningkatan screen time pada remaja menimbulkan kekhawatiran terhadap kapasitas kognitif yang menopang keberhasilan akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara screen time, attention span, dan working memory pada peserta didik MAN Insan Cendekia Gowa tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross-sectional dengan sampel sebanyak 118 siswa kelas X dan XI. Screen time diukur menggunakan Questionnaire for Screen Time of Adolescents (QueST), attention span dengan Deary-Liewald Reaction Time Task, dan working memory dengan Digit Span Test (DST). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara screen time dengan attention span (p = 0,091) maupun working memory (p = 0,925). Namun, ditemukan hubungan signifikan antara attention span dengan working memory (p = 0,039), yang menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan attention span baik cenderung memiliki kapasitas working memory yang lebih. Kesimpulannya, penelitian ini tidak menemukan hubungan yang signifikan antara screen time dan fungsi kognitif, tetapi attention span berperan penting dalam mendukung kapasitas working memory. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya intervensi pendidikan yang berfokus pada pelatihan konsentrasi dan strategi peningkatan fokus, bukan hanya sekedar pembatasan penggunaan perangkat digital.
