SALAT SEBAGAI NEUROPROTECTIVE EXERCISE: TINJAUAN MEKANISME PERFUSI OTAK DAN AKTIVITAS SARAF TERHADAP FUNGSI KOGNITIF
SALAT AS A NEUROPROTECTIVE EXERCISE: A REVIEW OF CEREBRAL PERFUSION MECHANISMS AND NEURAL ACTIVITY ON COGNITIVE FUNCTION
Abstract
Penurunan fungsi kognitif merupakan masalah kesehatan global yang meningkat seiring bertambahnya usia. Aktivitas fisik ringan dengan unsur fokus dan relaksasi diketahui berperan dalam menjaga kesehatan otak. Salat, sebagai ibadah yang menggabungkan gerakan tubuh, pengaturan napas, dan ketenangan mental, diduga memiliki efek neuroprotective melalui mekanisme fisiologis dan elektrofisiologis. Tujuan kajian ini meninjau literatur terkait pengaruh shalat terhadap perfusi otak dan aktivitas saraf serta relevansinya terhadap fungsi kognitif. Pencarian literatur dilakukan pada database PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, dan ResearchGate dengan kata kunci “shalat”, “cerebral perfusion”, “EEG”, dan “cognitive function”. Dari 68 artikel yang ditemukan, 6 studi memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil: Studi-studi menunjukkan bahwa gerakan rukuk dan sujud meningkatkan sementara perfusi otak yang diatur melalui mekanisme autoregulasi vaskular, sedangkan aktivitas saraf selama shalat memperlihatkan peningkatan gelombang alfa dan gamma yang berhubungan dengan relaksasi dan fokus. Selain itu, normalisasi kortisol dan α-amylase saliva menunjukkan aktivasi sistem saraf parasimpatis. Kombinasi efek vaskular dan neuronal ini berpotensi memperkuat cognitive resilience dan mencegah penurunan kognitif. Kesimpulan: Shalat berpotensi menjadi neuroprotective exercise yang alami dan terukur, dengan efek sinergis terhadap sistem neurovaskular dan otonom, sehingga dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai model intervensi spiritual-fisik untuk pencegahan gangguan kognitif.
